Most reverend archbishops, bishops, reverend fathers, sisters, deacons

and dear faithful brothers and sisters in Christ.

 

Armenians living in Armenia and in the diaspora are preparing to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in an extraordinary way, in 2015. During this critical and decisive period, our unity and exceptional organization efforts are the most crucial factors and our only priority, to be able to accomplish and excel in our national duties.

 

As an Armenian nation, we have the opportunity to show to the international community our potential in our unity and homogeneity, by mass participation at the holy mass celebrated according to the Armenian rite and presided over by His Holiness Pope Francis, in the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide on April 12, 2015, its 100th anniversary. The mass will be held in Vatican in St. Peter's Basilica with the participation of cardinals, ambassadors of different nations, Roman clergy and faithful. This historical event will be broadcasted by the international mass media, which will turn a worldwide attention to the Armenian Genocide.

 

We are confident, that each one of you in his own eparchy and parish will encourage the faithful and the Armenian community, to participate in this unique and memorable event. Mass participation of the Armenian people will strengthen our request to canonize the Armenian Genocide victims as martyrs of faith.

 

Through the profound and sincere participation of the entire Armenian nation, not only in the events planned and organized by the Armenian catholic patriarchate’s genocide committee, but also in the various commemorative ceremonies throughout the Armenian diaspora, we will express our gratitude and loyalty to the one and a half million martyrs who showed great patriotism and devotion to their Armenian nation and an unfaltering love of Jesus Christ and Christianity.

 

We will also reaffirm our reliance in the divine Justice, and the effective realization of the human rights and values, and protecting the noble value of martyrdom on which the foundation of the rebirth and resurrection of the Armenian nation is established.
