On Thursday, the 12th of August 2010, at 11:00 AM, the supervisors of the Armenian libraries in Lebanon, the Armenian press directors and Armenian Lebanese intellectuals were invited to go to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, to receive a special « thank-you letter » sent by the director of the National Library of Armenia Mr. David Sarkisian, on the initiative of the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Culture. This thank-you letter was sent by hand to His Excellency the Ambassador Mr. Ashot Kocharyan.
The honorable guests were welcomed in the official guest room of the Embassy where the Ambassador made his welcoming speech and in the name of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Culture and the National Library of Armenia he was very thankful to all who were present there and who cooperated and answered enthusiastically the call for collecting books for the National Library. He added by saying that « thanks to you, around 5000 books were transported from Lebanon to the National Library and your positive behavior reflects very well the love that the Armenian Lebanese community has towards the Mother Country ».
Let’s mention that the representative of the National Library of Armenia Miss Suzan Simonyan came to the convent of Bzommar on Monday the 15th of March 2010 and as a representative of this library she asked officially, in the name of the director, to exchange the books which were published by the library of Bzommar during the last 30-40 years. To this end, practical steps were taken and a large number of Armenian books were transported from the library of Bzommar and the Armenian Catholic «Massis » Weekly editing house to the National Library of Armenia.
