Saturday, 7 November 2009 - Diaconate ordination in Bzommar
Diaconate ordination in Bzommar Bzommar, Lebanon Saturday, November 7 2009, under the request of the administrative Council of the Congregation of Bzommar, His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX TARMOUNI, Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenian Catholics, during the Eucharistic celebration of the festivity day of the Archangel Michael, patron of the seminar, ordained deacon brothers George BAHI and Raffi BERBERIAN, in the Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption in the Convent of Bzommar. In his homily, His Beatitude said that the existence of angels in our life is a truth of faith. God gave his angels the mission of service to help us reach him in heaven. Then he explained the function of deacons in the church at the time from the Apostles to today, recalling that the first martyr and the first deacon of Christianity was St. Stephen. Similarly, the Patriarch spoke about the identity of the permanent diaconate in the Eastern churches, mentioning his various duties and obligations in the ministry of the liturgy. At the end, His Beatitude talked about the best important role of the diaconate as a preparation for the priesthood. After the Mass, all were present together at the table of joy in this occasion; they have expressed their sincere congratulations to the new deacons. |
