On Sunday, the 24th of June 2007, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in St.Gregory-St.Elie Church, to commemorate the Discovery of the Relics of the Saint Patron of the Armenian Church, St. Gregory the Illuminator.
At 10:30 am, while the choir was singing, Father Kevork Asadourian, the Parish Priest of the church walked in with a procession holding the Remains high and blessing the believers. After solemn rituals the Relics were placed on a table from which the smoke of the incense elevated.
Father Kevork Asadourian gave the day's sermon in both armenian and arabic languages.He encouraged the believers to embrace and hang on to their faith in order to become the worthy successors of the Illuminator.He ended his sermon by quoting the words of the Holy Pontiff Jean Paul II, " The relics of St. Gregory the Illuminator are a symbol of unity that invite people to join and live the Christian faith."
At the end, all the believers approached to kiss the relics and after they gathered in the church hall where they greeted each other in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
